1st Run Post Princess

Monday I ran.  Ok, I ran and walked. I walked much more than I would have thought I'd have to. But I finished my 1/2 hour. I'm hoping it will be better on my next run. Tomorrow. I hope. My legs are so sore but I know it gets better. I just need to sign up for a race soon. I'm hoping to be able to run a 10k in May. That may be wishful thinking!  But I'm going to try!

Stats from Monday's run:

Pace: 12:38/mile
Distance 2.37
Time: 30 minutes
Calories Burned: 266

I am a Runner

I'm a runner. I'm also a mom, wife, x-ray tech, CT tech, and coach. I work 3 PRN jobs and coach middle school and high school hurdlers. I don't have a regular schedule. My husband doesn't have a regular schedule. Finding time to run is not always easy.

I wanted to try and document what it's like for me to find time to run. Runners in general are great people. We tend to come together and cheer and support and help each other. But sometimes it feels like the serious runners take over the running world. I wanted to show that you don't have to be fast, do intervals, wear a running belt, or have a specific brand of chew or gu (or know what one is!) to be a runner.

Some of us struggle. We struggle to find time. We struggle to keep going. We struggle to want to run. But it's worth it. Whether you run 10 miles or 1 mile you are a runner. If you run once a week or 5 times a week you are a runner. But be a runner for yourself, because you want to do it.

Running gives me a sense of accomplishment.  It gives me stress relief.  It gives me peace and quiet when I live with 2 boys who have no concept of the phrase.

I finished my first 1/2 marathon in Feb.  I am signed up for my second in Nov. And I haven't run a step since I finished my race over a month ago. It's time to go. For me. Around my crazy schedule. Around my husband's crazy schedule. Around my kids activities. And around practices and meets. I can do it.

In the process I hope I help some of the other 'part-time' runners know they aren't alone! Good luck to all of you!  Tomorrow (today?) I WILL get out and run. Even if I only get 5 hours of sleep after I get home in a few hours. :)
